Brackets and matches

Divisions, bracket generation, matches, advancement, results and public bracket views.

Tournament structure

Tournament → Division → Bracket → Match → Match teams is the structure used by BeatKhana. A tournament can have several divisions, each division can have one or more brackets, and each bracket contains its matches. Names and ordering determine how these appear to staff and viewers.

Automatic result propagation

Auto-propagate declared winners and losers controls whether saving a declared result places teams into connected future matches. Keep it enabled after you have verified every advancement path. Disable it if staff must review advancement or the bracket is managed elsewhere.

Only declared results advance teams

Live scores do not replace the declared winner. A coordinator or authorised staff member must verify the result and declare the winner before automatic advancement occurs.

Create matches manually

Create divisions first, then brackets, then matches. For each match, set its bracket, displayed number, type, map pool, status, scheduled time, score limit, teams and advancement destinations. Winner advances to and Loser advances to connect the bracket. Avoid cycles and confirm that each destination receives the expected number of teams.

Generate a bracket

Choose the division, format and number of teams. BeatKhana can generate single-elimination, double-elimination, round-robin and Swiss structures. Round-robin and Swiss formats also require the intended number of rounds and, where offered, the number of teams in each match.

Generation creates the match structure. It does not choose your rules for seeding, byes, side selection, ties, grand-final resets, map pools or match flows. Review the generated bracket against the tournament rulebook before adding results.

Match lifecycle

A match can be scheduled, in progress, completed or cancelled. Its page can also hold the scheduled and actual times, assigned staff, team order, points, remaining replays, map pool, VOD and declared winner. The score limit should agree with the match flow and published format.

Public and broadcast views

Tournament pages can expose bracket views to players and spectators, while broadcast layouts can show an individual match or a larger bracket. Public visibility depends on the tournament and page visibility settings. Hiding the page does not delete bracket data.

For how each supported format is laid out and advanced, see Bracket system.
